The IAS has been established at Shenzhen University to provide both undergraduate and
postgraduate education, focusing on interdisciplinary teaching and research. IAS will build
a team consisting of experienced professors with international vision and young teachers
with great potential. It will foster collaborations with world-class universities in Hong Kong
and abroad. By adopting best-practice management methods used by overseas research
universities, IAS aims to create an academic environment sensitive to progress made by
international peers, with the overall goal of attaining excellence in teaching, research and
management. IAS provides a special platform within Shenzhen University for exploring
innovative approaches to higher education and research.

Meromorphic solutions of difference equations in the complex plane
Prof. Zhi-Tao Wen
Department of Mathematics, Taiyuan University of Technology, China
The key idea in this talk is the property of the meromorphic solutions of difference equations in the complex plane. The main tool of studying this topic is Nevanlinna theory. Thus, I will start from difference equations in the real line. The background of difference equations will be presented at first. The relations between the solutions of difference and differential linear equations with constant coefficients will be discussed later. Secondly, I will show the notations and basic idea of Nevanlinna theory, which is one of the greatest achievements in 20th century. At last, I will talk about some related properties of meromorphic solutions of difference equations in the complex plane.
