Introducation

In this talk, Dr. Hailong Zhou will discuss graphene and selected two dimensional (2D) transition metal dichalcogenides as an exciting material system for future electronics and optoelectronics. In recent years, the silicon based electronics coupled with the extraordinary graphene has direct the electronic community toward atomically thin 2D semiconductors. Hence, herein we seek to understand, from a synthetic, structural, and electrical perspective, 2D atomic crystals grown by chemical vapor deposition method, not only the large size monodomain graphene but also the selected transition metal dichalcogenides (e.g., tungsten diselenide, and molybdenum disulfide). Those emerged exciting materials can be integrated into the hybrid vertically stacked hetero-junctions. Their unique optical and electronic properties can be more readily tuned by the gate voltage, with key implications for the new generation flexible electronics and optoelectronics.
