About the Speaker
Dr. Xiaoyong Huang is a Young Sanjin Distinguished Professor. He obtained his PhD degree from South China University of Technology in 2011, and then he worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the National University of Singapore during 2011-2014. His research focuses on functional luminescent materials.
More than 12% of China electricity is used to power artificial lighting. Light-emitting diodes (LEDs) based on group III/nitride semiconductors are bringing about a revolution in energy-efficient lighting, and the lighting industry is transformed into a rapidly growing business sector. Nowadays, LEDs-based solid-state lighting technology is penetrating deeply into various market segments, including indoor and outdoor lighting, indoor plant growth lighting, medical applications, automotive lighting, and lifestyle products. Luminescent materials play a critical role in fabricating high-performance LED devices, and the discovery of more efficient desirable phosphor materials is essential. In this talk, I will report some our recent works on developing highly efficient phosphor materials for LEDs towards general lighting and indoor plant growth lighting.
