RESEARCH INTERESTS

Our research is focused on the computational modelling of materials by Density Functional Theory (DFT) and Molecular Dynamics (MD) simulations. We use computer simulations to study the structural and electronic properties of metals and metal-oxides' surfaces and interfaces; aiming to understand the fundamental interactions between these materials and simple biomolecules. The main outcomes of our work are key for the rational design of novel materials that can be used in a wide range of applications such as antifouling coatings or heavy metal adsorbent biomaterials.
