Research Summary:

Previously I have worked with several projects, all related to organic synthesis. Brief description is given below:

1)Four chiral fluorescent sensors based on 1,1-Bi-naphthol were designed and developed for chiral discrimination of amino acids and biothiols (Cysteine, Homo-cysteine and Glutathione).

Synthesis of each sensor was achieved in several steps starting from (R/S)-1,1’-Binaphthol followed by purification and characterization using NMR spectroscopy and mass spectrometry.

All four sensors showed selective and enantioselective fluorescence response towards amino acid and biothiols. Diagramatic representation for the four fluorescence sensors toward amino acids is shown below.

2)In another project I have worked with the synthesis of following Branched tri-saccharides from E.coli bacteria.

a) β-D-Xylp-(1 3)[β-D-Xylp-(1 4)]-α-D-Glcp-Ome

b) β-D-GlcpNAc-(1 3)[β-D-GlcpNAc-(1 4)]-α-D-Glcp-OMe

c) β-D- Xylp-(1 3)[β-D-GlcpNAc-(1 4)]-α-D-Glcp-OMe

Different protection techniques were used for hydroxyl groups followed by glycosylation and deprotection to achieve target molecules. In the end target molecules were purified by column chromatography and characterized by NMR spectroscopy and mass spectrometry.
