On the evening of November 26, 2019, the fourth interdisciplinary forum of Shenzhen University (SZU) titled Energy for Our Future was held in the No.1 report hall of SZU at 19:00. This forum invited five keynote speakers, namely, Weibin Sun (a professor-level senior engineer from China National Petroleum Corporation's Oriental Geophysical Company), Professor Yu Xue (a national distinguished expert from China Ocean University), Associate Professor Lin Zeng, a national distinguished expert (youth) from south university of science and technology), Dr. Guandong Yang of Hong Kong University and Researcher Xiuting Li of Shenzhen University. Professor Heping Xie, academicians from the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and Professor Feng Chen, President of SZU’s Institute for Advanced Study, and Professor Chuluo Yang, Shenzhen University's distinguished professor, are commented guests. Professor Qingshan Niu, a national distinguished expert from the Institute for Advanced Study of SZU, served as the host of the forum. More than 100 teachers and students participated in the forum.
This forum is hosted by Shenzhen University and undertook by the Institute for Advanced Study of SZU. Under the topic of future energy resources, the forum discussed the development process and current situation of energy resources, research progress and achievements in new energy, current opportunities, challenges, and future development of the energy. The host Prof. Niu first introduced the guests present and the theme of the forum, then the five guest speakers introduced their research areas and their discoveries and opinions about the future energy.
Three experts made humorous comments based on their own research fields and experiences and praised the reports of the five guest speakers. The audiences were very active to communicate with the guest speakers during the Q&A part. The guest speakers also answered the audience's questions in detail.
At the end of the forum, Professor Feng Chen and Professor Qingshan Niu made a brief summary. Later, Prof. Feng Chen issued certificates to the guest speakers as well as the commented guests and took a group photo. This forum promotes the development of interdisciplinary integration and enhances communication between teachers and students in different disciplines. It also lets students know more knowledge about future energy, broadens their horizons and enhances the influence of Shenzhen University's interdisciplinary forum.
