Heme Enzyme Mechanism and Catalysis

Dr. Zhiqi Cong

Department of Chemistry, Nagoya University

Talk Introduction

Heme-containing oxidative enzyme found in the living organism is a super family in nature, which is involved in a variety of important physiological processes and chemical reactions. Chloroperoxidase (CPO) and myeloperoxidase (MPO) are representative heme haloperoxidases that catalyze the oxidation of chloride by using hydrogen peroxide. In addition, cytochrome P450 monooxygenase are versatile heme enzymes that have been widely applied to biosynthesis and oxidation of organic substrates. In this talk, the speaker will focus on the molecular mechanism of CPO- and MPO-based activation of chloride ion and the related chlorination reactions of organic substrates, as well as the activation of P450 enzyme by synthetic compounds for the hydroxylation of gaseous alkanes.

About the Speaker

Dr. Cong received B.S (1999) and M.S (2002) from Yanbian University, and Ph.D (2009) from Kumamoto University in Japan. He has worked in the Institute for Molecular Science (2009~2013IMS Fellow) and Nagoya University 20132015Researcher2015~,Senior Researcher. His research interest is the molecular mechanism and catalytic application of metalloenzyme.
