About the Speaker
Dr. Chengming Wang obtained his PhD degree in organic chemistry at RWTH Aachen University under the supervision of prof. Magnus Rueping. His research mainly focuses on transition metal catalysis. He has published 13 papers in journals such as Angew. Chem., Org. Lett. and ChemCatChem. These papers have received more than 800 citations totally.
Talk Information
In the past few decades, transition metal catalyzed C-H functionalization has enjoyed tremendous advances. In order to realize good reactivity and selectivity, various directing groups have been developed. However, two main drawbacks occur: i). it is difficult to remove; ii). hard for diverse transformations. Under this background, I first designed triazene as a new, versatile and removable directing group for C-H functionalization, guided by “traceless directing strategy”. Besides, I have also conducted systematic research towards manganese(I)-catalyzed C-H activation.
