About the Speaker
Dr. Zhang received her B.E. and M.S. degrees from Harbin Institute of Technology and Ph.D. from City University of Hong Kong in 2017. She then worked as a postdoctoral fellow at Tsinghua Shenzhen International Graduate School. Her research interests focus on developing rechargeable batteries, especially Na-ion batteries.
Talk Introduction
Na-ion batteries (NIBs) have attracted much attention in grid-scale energy storage applications, due to the natural abundance, widespread distribution and low cost of Na supplies. However, their practical application is currently limited by the advances of anode and cathode electrodes with both high capacity and long cycle life. Dr. Zhang has endeavored to address the above issues. For cathodes, she tried to tackle the most critical issues, i.e. the electrochemical and environmental stability of layered oxides (the most promising cathode candidates) as well as explore novel cathode candidates. Importantly, innovative anionic redox reaction mechanism is unraveled for novel NaVO3, providing a new exciting direction for the research of NIB cathodes. For anodes, she devoted to improving the cycle stability of high capacity Sn4P3 and Na metal anodes via tuning the solid-electrolyte interphase (SEI). In addition, she developed three-dimensional carbon fiber current collector for high performance Na metal anode.
