报告主题：A learning journey with a lethal pathogen: Understanding the T6SS functions inVibrio cholerae

报告摘要：

Vibrio choleraehas been known as an important human pathogen for over a century. Of all its virulence factors and survival tools inV. cholerae,the type VI secretion system (T6SS) is unique in its dual functions targeting both bacterial and eukaryotic competitors. My group has focused on understanding how the T6SS works and what its functions are for over a decade. Using genetics and biochemical approaches, we have elucidated the key effector proteins and their associated functions for not only killing target cells but also for assembling the T6SS as a structural component. We have also successfully engineered the T6SS inV. choleraeto deliver heterologous cargo proteins, showcasing its potential as a synthetic biology module for protein delivery. In this talk, I will discuss how these discoveries were made and what we plan to achieve in the near future.

学术简历：

董涛教授，现任南方科技大学生命科学学院副院长，教育部特聘讲席教授。先后获山东大学学士、麦克马斯特大学博士学位，并在哈佛大学进行博士后研究。曾获得加拿大政府颁发的博后最高荣誉班庭学者奖。曾在卡尔加里大学任助理教授、副教授、教授和加拿大微生物分子生态学首席研究员，以及在上海交通大学任生物化学系主任。其主要研究方向为病原菌与宿主的相互作用和抗生素耐药性机理及新药开发等，尤其聚焦于蛋白六型分泌系统功能和机制的研究。现主持国家自然基金重点项目和科技部重点研发课题等项目并担任中国微生物遗传学专业委员会委员。
