嘉宾简介:

Carlo Noviello (Member, IEEE) received the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in telecommunication engineering from the University of Naples Federico II, Naples, Italy, in 2011 and 2015, respectively. From 2012, he has been collaborated with the Institute for Electromagnetic Sensing of the Environment (IREA), National Research Council of Italy (IREA-CNR), Naples, where he is currently a Research Scientist. His main skills are about signal processing, electromagnetic modeling, remote and in situ microwave sensing techniques. His research interests included statistical radar signal processing, with emphasis on of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV), Airborne and Spaceborne Platforms, Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) interferometry, and inverse SAR imaging techniques. He has coauthored over 50 publications in international peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings, and he serves as a reviewer for several international journals and conference papers. Nowadays, Carlo Noviello is involved in the several innovative European, Italian and NATO Scientific Projects in the area of Microwave Remote Sensing concerning Homeland Security, Earth Observation and Electromagnetic Diagnostic applications.

报告摘要:

Microwave tomography (MWT) represents an advanced signal processing strategy aimed at reconstructing the spatial distribution of the electromagnetic properties of an investigated target or medium. MWT is based on the solution of an inverse scattering problem, where measured electromagnetic data are processed through iterative or regularized inversion algorithms to estimate the complex permittivity distribution within the region of interest. By combining multiple measurement geometries and multi-frequency data, microwave tomography can enhance image resolution and improve target discrimination capabilities. MWT has shown significant potential for several radar-based scenarios, including ground-penetrating radar (GPR) for subsurface exploration, through-wall imaging for security and rescue operations, and Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) systems for environmental and Earth observation purposes. The talk focuses on the use of MWT with different Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) systems, including both contact and contactless configurations, and its application in several application frameworks.
