On April 7, 2017, five leaders of Shenzhen University paid a visit to IAS, including Hongyi Liu, the Secretary of the Party committee, Chen Xu, the Vice-president, Jifeng Dai, the Director of the Party and Administration Office, Jiangping Qiu, the Vice-director of the Party and Administration Office and Chaojie Wang, the Vice-minister the Organization Department, visited IAS. The Dean, the director of Office of Discipline Construction and Development, the Assistant Dean, heads of disciplines and the representative of foreign teachers from IAS, attended the meeting.
IAS Dean Prof. Charles C. Han made a detailed report about IAS from the five aspects, such as the brief introduction, the characteristics, the recruitment selection, the operation mechanism and the status, in which the achievements made by teachers and students in scientific research, international exchange programs, featured courses and student competitions were mainly introduced. Haiyan Ming the director of Office of Discipline Construction and Development also introducted the construction of IAS and its curriculum reform. Dr. Yang Wei, the Assistant Dean gave presentations on the Party branch from different aspects, including theoretical study, ideological work, development of Party member and Party activities. After that, heads of disciplines also explained the situation of the development of teaching and scientific research.
Complying with the trend of the time, IAS was established, which was an important reform measure for SZU. Secretary Hongyi Liu thought highly of the reforms in institute-running idea, innovative talent training, teaching and research and also said that the university would still support IAS’work.
Secretary Hongyi Liu raised the following suggestions on the development of IAS: first, learn from advanced concepts in running schools; second, pay attention to the comprehensive quality of students; third, raise the management of students and practices; fouth, Party building work shall be related to discipline construction and students' cultivation, etc.
