At 3 pm on the afternoon of September 10, a freshmen orientation meeting was held at C209 of Teaching Building. All the new students of 2018 from IAS attended the lecture. Dr. Yang Wei, Assistant Dean of the Insitute for Advanced Study, Teacher Yilin Peng, Teacher Yang Chen，Chao Zhao and the new students of IAS attended the lecture.

Dr. Wei firstly welcomed the freshmen and delivered a introduced comprehensively introduced the general situation of IAS, the faculty, discipline features, IAS memorabilia and others issues, and also encouraged them to challenge themselves and improve their self-awareness. At the same time, she expressed her expectations for the freshmen of 2018.

Subsequently, teacher Yang Chen gave a detailed explanation of the teaching of IAS, including training programs, graduation requirements, course selection, courses, examinations and processe of choosing majors.

Next, teacher Yilin Peng explained the scholarship selection and safety education to the freshmen, including the details of scholarship selection, campus loans, information fraud and so on.

At the end of the meeting, the freshmen asked the teachers some questions freely.

The meeting aimed to strengthen the relationship between the freshmen and the Institute, but also enabled them to know more about IAS to adapt to college life quickly.
