On the morning of November 16th, IAS Defense Meeting for the 2018 Outstanding Young Teachers of SZU was held at the Conference Room 103 of the Office Building. Seven professors from Shenzhen University(SZU) were invited to be the judges, including IAS Dean Prof. Steven F. Chen, IAS Assistant Dean Prof. Meng Li, Prof. Ka-Wing Cheng and Prof. Jinsong He, as well as Prof. Lei Wang, Dean of College of Materials Science and Engineering, Prof. Peng Huang from Health Science Center  and Prof. Xin Song from College of Life Sciences and Oceanography.

Prof. Chen delivered a speech at the beginning of the meeting, including the selection of the 1st Outstanding Young Teachers of SZU at IAS, the good performance of IAS young teachers and thanks for the support to IAS from the judges. After explaining the process of the defense by Prof. Meng Li, the meeting started.

After application and approval by the Institute, five young teachers, including Xiong Wang, Ye Zhou, Yizhou Jiang, Yougen Chen and Wu Li, entered the IAS defense of Outstanding Young Teachers of SZU. In accordance with the defense agenda, each young teacher shall make a 15-minute presentation and question-and-answer, including the presentation of individual research achievements, future research goal planning and general goals, and answering questions, and the judges would vote by secret ballot based on the performance of the five young teachers. Finally, Ye Zhou and Wu Li passed the defense and would be recommended to the defense of Outstanding Young Teachers of SZU.

The five young teachers made a deep impression on the judges by their excellent presentations and showed the good spirit of young teachers at IAS.  Outstanding Young Teachers of SZU would offer a platform for IAS to improve the scientific research level and quality of young teachers, accelerate the growth of young teachers at IAS to contribute to the construction of a high-level special zone university with people's satisfaction in the new era.
