The 3rd Distinguished Scholars Lecturing Program, which was themed ‘Oxide Neuromorphic Transistor and its brain-like chip Application', was held at Room L1-707 of the Science and Engineering Building on October 24th. Nearly 100 teachers and students, including research scientist Hai Xiong and Ye Zhou from IAS and other colleges of Shenzhen University attended the meeting.

The speaker is Prof. Qing Wan, a professor and doctoral supervisor of the School of Electronic Science and Engineering of Nanjing University, who is also an awardee of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars(2014) and was selected into the National High Level Talents Special Support Plan. Prof. Wan first introduced the research direction and achievements of his research group based on his  experience in study and scientific research. In 2009, Prof. Wan's group discovered large double-layer capacitors in phosphorus-doped SiO2 nanoparticle films, chitosan films, graphene oxide, etc., and realized the amorphous oxide semiconductor by using the above solid electrolyte film as a gate dielectric. On this basis, a series of oxide-based double-layer capacitors were developed, realizing bionic functions of short/long range memory, peak time-dependent plasticity (STDP), high-pass filtering, multi-channel impulse information integration regulation and neuronal algorithm, and helping the development of brain-like chip and application of neuromorphic engineering applications. Finally, Prof. Wan suggested that students shall not follow the trend in scientific research, keeping independent thinking and read widely, study diligently to be  cross-cutting research talents.

This lecture made the students know about the oxide neuromorphic transistor and its brain-like chip application, and also stimulated their academic and scientific enthusiasm.

At 4:00 pm, the lecture was successfully concluded.
