About the Speaker
Dr. Li focuses on identifying novel cancer therapeutic targets and development of treatment strategies. He uncovered the important role of Id1 in cancer progression and microenvironment, providing preclinical evidence for anticancer drugs. He has published over 40 articles in international peer-reviewed journals including Nature Communications, Clinical Cancer Research, Oncogene.
Talk Introduction
Chemoresistance and metastasis account for the majority of cancer deaths. However, the precise molecular mechanisms remain largely unknown, more importantly, the effective therapeutic strategies are urgently needed. The central theme of my research is to investigate the molecular basis of cancer progression for precision intervention through a multidisciplinary and integrative approach.
On the basis of the disease models we established, I intend to scale up the discovery of functional proteins associated with tumor metastasis and chemoresistance by omics analysis, and investigate the mechanism of action, as well as devote to drug design and targeted intervention. I am also interested in the functional and clinical significance of post-translational modification in cancer. By combining molecular biology, OMCIS and bioinformatics, advanced animal models and cancer pharmacology, I hope to improve our understanding of the mechanism of cancer progression, therefore contributing to the development of novel treatment strategies.
