Dean Steven F. Chen and others from IAS attended the Annual meeting of Energy, Resources and Environment Professional Council 2018

The opening of the Annual meeting of Energy, Resources and Environment Professional Council 2018 and Talent ProjectShantouMatchmaking Meeting was held on December 8th at the Shantou Overseas Chinese Experimental Zone Administrative Committee. Fifty experts and professors attended the meeting, including Prof. Steven F. Chen, the director of the Energy, Resources and Environment Professional Council and the Dean of IAS, Prof. Meng Li, the Assistant Dean of IAS and Prof. Ka-Wing Cheng and Research Scientist Ke Pan from IAS.

 

 

 

At the beginning of the meeting, on behalf of the Energy, Resources and Environment Professional Council, Prof. Chen delivered a speech to welcome the experts and professors and expressed thanks to the supporting from Shantou Municipal Government. Prof. Chen also said it was the eighth years of the annual meeting of Energy, Resources and Environment Professional Council and hoped the 2018 annual meeting could provide support for Shantou's social and economic development.

 

 

Subsequently, Dean Chen made a report entitled “Industrial Development and Environmental Protection of Riverside Region”, which analyzed the severe environmental conditions of Han River, Rong River and Lian River and proposed some guiding suggestions for the river treatment and the development and distribution of Riverside Region industry combined with experience of developed countries in Europe and America.

 

 

 

The project roadshow started on at Talent Building of Shantou Overseas Chinese Experimental Zone in the afternoon. Prof. Meng Li and Research Scientist Ke Pan gave lectures entitled “Ecological Function and Resource Exploitation of Marine Archaea” and “Current Situation and Thinking of Heavy Metal Pollution in Shellfish in South China Estuaries”, which aroused heated discussions with the participating experts.

 

 

Such meeting would offer a platform for IAS to strengthen the cooperative relationships with others in academic, scientific research, industrial development and promote the improvement of scientific research and Technical transformation to serve Shenzhen University for the construction and development of high-level University.
